The REPAIR Project is a three-year-long initiative at UCSF that addresses anti-Black racism and augments the presence and perspectives of people of color across science, medicine, and healthcare through critical dialogue, cross-disciplinary research, and curriculum development. Each year between 2020 to 2023, the REPAIR Project focused on one of three themes: medical reparations, medical abolition, and decolonization in the health sciences. While the REPAIR Project acknowledges that the harms of slavery and its legacies will never be fully rectified, it believes that there are tangible and meaningful ways that medical educators, clinical practitioners, and health science researchers can work to mitigate the impacts of anti-Black racism.
